Santa Is My Home Boy

Hey ho! I hope you all spent Christmas with loved ones and made some cherishable memories.  This year my family celebrated at my sister's place.  She put up a lovely tree and made lots of delicious food for us.

My sister's Christmas tree set the mood perfectly

My outfit for the day

We began by opening presents (of course).  I am never disappointed with the gifts I receive and this year was no exception.

Love all my pressies!

Since Christmas has become so commercialised in modern times, we decided that we wouldn't buy each other things before Christmas, as everything is so over-priced and it seems senseless to pay more for things that could be bought at sale price afterwards.  We still got each other small gifts though, purely for the novelty of opening presents (^_^)  I also received a couple of cool goodies from a friend of mine who lives in Finland.

A little mouse for Selene (my cat) and beautiful music for me

After pressies, we had a range of nibblies to whet our appetites.  My favourites were the prawns and cheese/crackers, but I enjoyed everything really.

Brandy snaps, prawns with cocktail sauce, fresh fruit and cheese/crackers

Once we'd digested our entree, lunch was served!  Both my mum and sis cooked the meal and it must've been cooked with love as everything was truly delicious!

Our little Christmas table

My plate - rice, curry, turkey, roast potatoes and salads

Lunch was followed by the pulling of bon bons and the recitation of included bad jokes.  Although, the one I got wasn't too bad -- why did the man get fired from the orange juice factory? Because he couldn't concentrate. Ha. Ha. We also had a game of Charades which was absolutely hysterical, especially when my dad tried acting out "The English Patient". Too funny!

Next, came the time of day where everyone has over-eaten and can do nothing but sit (or flop) down somewhere and wish they hadn't over-eaten.  This didn't last long, however, because afternoon tea shortly followed.  This year, I made pavlova with lime jelly and custard.  Unfortunately I didn't take any pics of it, sorry, but everyone seemed to enjoy it.

So, that was my Christmas.  Now we all have exactly one week to ready our stomachs for the next big feast on New Years Day.  Can't wait!

Thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of your Chrissy season :-D

Current Inspirations

Hi everyone! Sorry for my absence lately.  Since I've found a little spare time, I thought I'd post something on here just incase there was the slightest possibility that anyone actually reads this blog. Haha.

Anywho, these are some of the things that have been inspiring me recently.  I have found that I am developing a real appreciation for all things cute (^_^) I don't really know why, it just appeals to me.  Never fear, I am still into the dark stuff too though.  I should also mention that I have started a Tumblr blog, which the following pics are from, so if you'd like to keep in touch with me there, please visit:  www.poisonperidot.tumblr.com and feel free to follow.  Thanks!

Here's wishing that you all enjoy the Silly Season -- have a happy and safe holiday!

A Perfect Day

Stopped in traffic

View from the driver's seat

Grey skies over my neighbour's house

Lovely and gloomy in my front yard

Most people would regard a wet day as a drag.  Some people even feel depressed when skies submit to the release of pent up rain clouds, complaining of the inconvenience to their daily routine.  I am pleased to say that I am not one of these people.  I love rainy days.  There is something very soothing and calming to me about rain.  Just knowing that those droplets of water have fallen from the top most recesses of our planet is an amazing thought.  I feel comforted when I hear them tap dancing on my roof.  One of my favourite things to do is snuggle in bed, while it rains or storms outside, listening to the water's gentle lullaby.

As you know from my last post, it has been extremely humid over here.  Well, today, the atmosphere finally relented and gave way to an electric storm.  As you can see from my pictures, it was pleasantly gloomy. Ha! My mum and I went out for lunch and a spot of shopping in this glorious weather and I ended up with a pleasing little bundle of goodies.

Hello Kitty plastic bags (30 pack) | $2.80

I am a total weakling when it comes to Hello Kitty.  So, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to bag me some...well, bags from the cute little feline.  I thought it was great value for the price and I know they will come in handy.

Pink bunny purse | $1.00

Up until now, I have been carrying my earphones around in a little plastic case.  Whilst this has protected them well inside my bag, I have always felt it was a bit chunky.  Now that I have this bunny purse, I can still keep my earphones from strangling everything inside my bag whilst providing me with a softer alternative.

Compact mirror | $4.00

Over the years, I have collected many handbags. Some I use frequently, others on the odd occasion.  For those I use a lot, I like to keep a compact mirror in each, rather than constantly transferring just one.  When I saw this bedazzled compact today, I knew it belonged in one of my bags!

Notebook | $2.80

Hilarious!

I have something in common with this one

How absolutely adorable is this notebook?! I love the look of the pages and find the little sayings quite amusing.  Can't wait to give someone a note!

Hello Kitty ballpoint pen (black ink) | $7.00

Cute Key automatic pencil | $3.00

I will admit I don't need anymore pens or pencils, but I couldn't go past these gorgeous offerings from Hello Kitty and Cute Key.  Plus, they were on sale for 30% off the regular price.  Irresistible.

Princess slapband | $1.00

Selene photobombed this one hehe

I bought this last item as a bit of a laugh at myself because, well, I can kind of be a princess at times.  Heh.

So, as you can see, I went totally kawaii on this lovely rainy Wednesday.  Sooooooo damn satisfying!  I shall leave you with a little pic showing what I wore today...

Outfit of the day...
Snow White Tshirt | Pressie from sis when she visited Melbourne
Blue tartan skirt | Fashion Fair $20.00
Black tribal footless tights | Woolworths $8.00
Blue denim rocking horse shoes | Shoobiz $50
